Azure Site Recovery: MARS agent installer can cause unexpected server restarts

Hello together,

I just stumbled across an issue installing Microsoft Azure Recovery Services (MARS) agent 2.0.9028.0 on a Hyper-V cluster node as a prerequisite in our VMM site. MARS agent installer relies on Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable and installs the package if it has not yet been.

VC++2012

The problem is that the installer restarts the host operating system WITHOUT an admin being able to interact. After the server has rebooted you have to start the MARS agent installer again.

Make sure to put your host system into maintenance mode via SCVMM before installing MARS agent so you don’t experience undesired VM outages or service interruptions.
